Henry Onyekuru Delighted To Get Off The Mark At Galatasaray
The Nigeria winger’s delicate chip in the first half ensured the Cimbom record their second win in as many games this season
Henry Onyekuru is delighted after scoring his first competitive goal for Galatasaray to lead them to victory over Goztepe in Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig encounter.
In a keenly contested tie at the Türk Telekom Stadı, the 21-year-old – in his second official match for the league champions since moving on loan from Everton – provided the spark with an eye-catching strike in the 42nd minute.
The pacy forward beat the offside trap to connect to a perfectly timed Fernando through pass with a lob from outside the box over an onrushing Goktug Bakirbas to help his side continue their perfect start to the 2018-19 campaign.
Buoyed by the feat, the former Eupen star who was on for the entire duration of tie took to the social media to express his feelings.
“Delighted to get on the score sheet, but more pleased with the victory! Thanks be to God,” Onyekuru tweeted.
In their next game, Galatasaray host Alanyaspor on August 27 and Onyekuru will hope to wreak havoc on the visitors’ defence.
