Special Aide to former president John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, has descended heavily on the Akufo-Addo government for overburdening Ghanaians with more taxes.
The former Deputy Minister of Transport sees the Akufo-Addo administration as heartless, following Parliament’s approval of new taxes Friday night.
Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah commended Parliament for voting to approve the taxes although the country’s inflation has swelled over the last 12 months.
Despite the opposition from the business community such as the Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), and the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), governing NPP MPs in Parliament approved the new taxes.
However, in a Twitter post, Joyce Bawa Mogtari harshly criticised Oppong Nkrumah for commending the MPs of his party for approving the additional taxes.
In 2015, when Oppong Nkrumah was seeking to represent his constituency in Parliament as MP, he scolded the Mahama administration for imposing more on Ghanaians taxes.
But his tweet has been pulled out from Twitter, asking him about what he thinks about the more taxes his government is imposing on Ghanaians.
Hounding Oppong Nkrumah over the new taxes, Bawa Mogtari said the government is “literally squeezing the ‘dead’ or more taxes!”
